About Being a Christian Poem 1
67
Proverbs 16:24
There are times in our life that we are moving along with our daily routine and "BAM", we find ourselves in a dark hole of despair. We don't know how we got there; we had no idea we were teetering on the edge for months. What happened was, negativity slithered into the yard of our mind. It went underground and then surfaced just long enough to coil it's cold, ugly body around our leg and take us down. It is a cunning creature, creating a false persona of good will that believe will help us perform better. The problem is by the time it has us, we don't know how to see beyond the darkness to climb out. Christian Poem 1 is about such a time. On a daily basis, many of us compare ourselves to others. We think we must have it all figured out, right away, to be a good Christian. We strive for what is superior instead of being content with the here and now. I hope this poem speaks to you about the Savior's love and how there is never a hole too deep that His hand won't reach!
The Christian Poem 1
Needed, breath of a Scared Father
Centered spirit man able to inhale
The kiss of purity, bell of hope tolled
Heart’s ground cultivated
Spring’s prosperity sprouted in the winter sun
Plagued thoughts as tightly woven balls of tension
Placed in the Savior’s hands
Holes with remedy
Benefits received
Eaten like honey
Aspirations sought a home
Neighbor’s accolades troubled the mind
Comparisons screamed against the creative muse
Simplicity cried
Worldliness entangled, now cut
Holy dagger strategies gleaned
Mind received meat
Soul Chewed slowly
Wisdom achieved
Sweet song, “Success”
Chains broken beneath my feet
Hailed healer a hero
A Maker to meet
Scriptures to Battle Negativity
Luke 10:19
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”(NIV)
Psalms 94:19
“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”(ESV)
Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, what is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise , think about these things…(ESV)

Thank you for writing this. It was enjoyable to read.
This is a beautiful hub! I think all of us folks here on earth can relate, I know I can! Thankyou.
Great Hub and great scriptures to substantiate what you say. Phil 4:13 is another one of my favorite scriptures that I confess everyday apart from what you have quoted. Have a blessed day!
Yeah.. what a wonderful hub period.. great job Stark :) Frank

This poem was a tough one to swallow, but I guess my mind consumed it all, lol. Nice job, I love it when a poet can fuel their writing with intense details, and yet remain on track with the message their trying to get across.
I was thinking at first it was going to be overly biblical from the titles suggestion, but on the contrary it appeared as if the poem was somewhat, more like a real persons struggle with things in life, instead of sounding as if it was a psalm or some biblical passage.
Going to church works wonders for me & my wife, she's a devoted christian, and me, I'm just plain old spiritually aware, but we find common ground on everything in life, and our love is like an everlasting furnace it never burns out, and always gets pumped with resourceful reserves.
Voted up in many ways, thanks for the follow too.
Beautifully written. The constant struggles within us between the flesh and the spirit can entrap us in a dark place if we lose sight of Jesus. Thank God for His Son, our redeemer who enables us and gives us peace. Voted up and beautiful.
This has wonderful truths. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful hub.
